Subscribe to the Hemp Report
The Hemp Report is a subscription-based online trade journal covering the North America hemp industry: agriculture, processing, marketing, research, business and regulatory news, and updates. The Hemp Report is edited by Arthur Hanks and there is a strong focus on hemp farming and developments in Canada. It is published on our web site in a blog format with occasional announcements, newsletters, and hemp-related promotional materials from our sponsors sent to our Topica list. The list is an announcement (read only) list, subscription does not require owner approval, and the Topica archive is readable by subscribers only.
To subscribe enter your email address in the Topica box below and press the "Subscribe" button. Once you are a subscriber you may read the archived posts at our Topica address at: the Hemp Report Topica page. We will send you posts when a new issue of the Hemp Report comes out and occasional announcements and newsletters. We will not fill you mailbox with spam or sell or give away your email address. We respect your privacy.
What will happen: If you do not already have a "My Topica account" a new window will open in your browser to register with Topica, our list host. Please register as it will make it easier for you to manage your Topica account. You should also receive an email from Topica with the Subject "RESPONSE REQUIRED: Topica Email Verification" to opt-in to The Hemp Report list. You will need to either respond to this email or click on the link in the email.
You will then get an email reply form Topica with a username and password to log into The Hemp Report web site. If you need help please see the help FAQ below. Please note that your Topica login and password will not work to log into The Hemp Report.

Q. How do I donate money to The Hemp Report?
A. You can donate to The Hemp Report with PayPal. Just click on the PayPal Donate button below and you will magically be transported to our donations page.
Q. What if I don't want to use PayPal?
A. You can also use regular old postal mail to send us a cheque if you like; please email Arthur Hanks at arthur@hempreport.com or Tom Murphy at hempreport@mac.com for additional details. If every one of our subscribers donated between $1 and $5 a year it would make a huge difference!
Q. I don't want to just give you money. What can I do to help and get something in return?
A. You can buy books and stuff from Powell's Books using our link. We get a small percentage from them if you start by clicking here. You can also search for the book that you want in the handy Powell's Books banner ads conveniently placed all over our web site, just like this one:
Q. What are you going to spend the money on?
A. Things that we are paying for out of pocket now. Advertising and sponsorships are not covering everything yet. It costs money to run The Hemp Report; hosting fees, domain name registration, software, gas money, bus fare, you know, stuff. We have received enough donations to purchase a new digital camera, so please check out our Photo Gallery.

Q. How do I subscribe to The Hemp Report?
A. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Topica "Subscribe to The Hemp Report" graphic and enter your email address in the box and click the "Subscribe" button. Follow the instructions on the pages that pop up. Click here to see to more detailed instructions. Q. I don't want to subscribe, I just want to be notified of when a new issue comes out, can I do this?
A. No, that's what's subscriptions are for! We used to keep such a list, but we have over 2000 subscribers now and it just got too unwieldy. Don't worry, a subscription doesn't cost you anything, it's free, and we do not share or sell email addresses.
Q. How often do you publish anyway?
A. Right now we do not have a set schedule, but we hope to publish a new story "Hemp Food 2006: hope, health, hassle - hazard?" this year, which will be for Hemp Report subscribers only. We will share more details as the year progresses.
Q. I can't get into the site to see the news, recipes and other stuff, can you help me?
A. Yes. Please email our webmaster Tom Murphy at: webmaster@hempreport.com. Please describe your problem exactly, tell him what operating system and browser you are using, and the text of any error messages that you see. The most common problem is not entering the Name/User ID and password correctly.
Q. I can't log into The Hemp Report with my username and password that I set up at Topica, what do I do?
A. Your Topica login and password will not work to log into The Hemp Report. You must use the username and password sent to you after you register at Topica. Please read the question and answer below for more information.
Q. I don't know the password, can you give it to me?
A. Sure. But we would rather you try to get it by yourself first. If you delete our Topica posts or otherwise lose the login ID and password it is available in the text of the 06/06/04 post "The Hemp Report is Back Online" in the message archive at our Hemp Report Topica page. You can log in and get it there. The password will also be given at the end of every post from now on. Please save them. If you are a subscriber and can't get the password yourself or need help please email our list manager Tom Murphy at: webmaster@hempreport.com. Note: Every so often Topica is unavailable while they rest, feed and groom the hamsters, install new treadmills and make various other improvements to the system.
Q. I used to be a subscriber, but I don't receive your mailings anymore, why is that?
A. Every time we send out an announcement through our Hemp Report Topica account we get a few hard bounces. We let these pile up in case the email addresses are really good, but just having ISP problems. After five hard bounces we send out an email to each individual bouncing address and remove those who don't reply from our list. The best thing to do is to subscribe again. Q. I have changed my email address, can you change my subscription address for me?
A. No, not any more. Topica changed their setup. It is much easier if you do it yourself anyway. Please see our "Manage Your Topica and Hemp Report Subscriptions" section below for complete instructions.
Q. Why do you have a Subscriber's Log In Page anyway?
A. It gives our subscribers an excellent starting point to get to the most update hemp news and information available on the Web. It gives us the ability to get a more accurate count of the number of subscribers The Hemp Report has. Q. What's coming up in The Hemp Report for the future?
A. No clue, but it will be about hemp. We just make it up as we go. That's what makes it worth doing and reading. You never know what's next.

Starting with issue 18 the current issue of The Hemp Report and our Hemp News Headlines and Hemp News Archives will be password protected and available to subscribers only. The back issues of The Hemp Report in our archives will available to all. We hope to continue to add more original content to our Subscriber Area. We will be sending subscribers the login ID and password at the end of every Topica post.
